Abstract:
Dynamical Energy Analysis (DEA) has been established as a mesh-based ray tracing method working at mid-to-high excitation frequencies for structure-borne sound on complex vehicle structures [1]. In this talk, Prof Tanner will give an introductory overview and discuss applications to vehicle body vibro-acoustics and turbulent boundary layer excitation important for aircraft NVH simulations.

Gregor Tanner obtained a Diploma in Physics in 1989 and a PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1992 – both from the University of Freiburg, Germany. From 1994 to 1996, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen, Denmark, and from 1996 to 1998 a Research Fellow at the Hewlett Packard Laboratories, Bristol, UK. He joined the School of Mathematical Sciences, University of Nottingham, in 1998 and became a Professor of Applied Mathematics in 2016.
