Abstract: Occupational exposure to hand-transmitted vibration can lead to several diseases, which are summed up as hand-arm vibration syndrome, one of which is vibration-induced white finger. There are several standards on hand-transmitted vibrations to prevent these. The central standard ISO 5349-1:2001 contains, next to instructions on calculations and measurements, a model predicting a 10% prevalence of vibration-induced white finger in a group of workers. Using pooled analyses, this model and the criticism it has received were evaluated, and new exposure-response models were created.
Magdalena Scholz (31.07.1991 Munich) studied Engineering Physics in her Bachelor in Oldenburg specializing in acoustics, mainly psychoacoustics. Her Bachelor thesis was on synchronicity perception of audio-tactile pulse-signals. During her Master’s in Physics (Oldenburg) she conducted experiments in areas of speech intelligibility, spatial perception, binaural perception and her Master’s thesis was on Evaluation of hearing support apps and comparison of evaluation methods.
She is currently a Research Associate at Technische Universität München.
