Barriers to and Drivers of Energy Efficiency in SME’s
SHUSU was contracted by ENWORKS, as part of research commissioned by Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC), to study the barriers to energy efficiency in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMSs) in the North West of England. Energy efficiency is understood in a broad sense, including behavioural changes, small-scale physical measures, and large infrastructural changes.
The study aimed to produce qualitative evidence on drivers of and barriers to energy efficiency in SMEs and explore how businesses overcome these barriers. Another aim was also to produce quantitative evidence of the opportunity costs to businesses of not engaging with the energy efficiency agenda.
