GLAM Lab

Established in 2025, the Salford GLAM Lab brings together researchers and cultural heritage organisations to explore the future of digital innovation, preservation, and public engagement. Through regional, national, and international partnerships, the Lab supports critical work on colonial heritage and the decolonisation of museum collections.

Salford GLAM Lab

The Salford GLAM Lab is the University of Salford’s hub for collaboration with museums, galleries, libraries, and archives, connecting cultural heritage institutions with academic expertise in digital innovation and preservation. Working in partnership with the Greater Manchester Museums Group and a growing regional network, the Lab advances research and practice around colonial heritage and the decolonisation of collections, contributing to national and international conversations across the GLAM sector.

Spinning Stories

Spinning Stories is its first public facing project, which involves Bolton Museum and Library, Oldham Gallery, Portland Basin Museum, Salford Museum and Art Gallery, and Touchstones Rochdale.
