Eve Blezard

The meaning of community: A qualitative longitudinal study of residents’ experiences of a social housing development.

Summary

A biographical narrative study to unravel the meaning of community for residents on a social housing estate in the north-west of England. The project will seek to provide a voice to social housing residents in the context of a new housing development. The aim is to develop a critical understanding of the resident experience of a social housing development to inform and improve future developments. The research also aims to contribute to and build on theory of community and further housing providers knowledge of resident experiences.

Eve has a background in community development in a social housing context, winning the TPAS Resident Involvement Officer of the year for the Northern Region 2015 for her work in Salford with City West Housing Trust. Eve is presently employed as the Customer Intelligence Officer for Trafford Housing Trust providing a wide range of intelligence products and data analysis to further understand the customer experience within Social Housing. Eve obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Housing Practice in 2011 from Salford University where she was awarded the Northern Region Chartered Institute of Housing Award for Best Academic Practice. Eve began her current research as part of her Professional Doctorate with the School of the Built Environment at the University in 2012. Eve is also an Associate Tutor with the Applied Health and Social Care Department at Edge Hill University teaching primarily on the BSc Family and Community Studies programme.

Research Interests

Community and community theory, social Policy, social Housing, socio-economic inequality, representations of poverty and the work class, customer insight and qualitative research.
