Why a research study?

The team who created GMMSIN have created similar communities before with different health conditions and our research found evidence that these communities lead to positive health outcomes.  This includes increased confidence with dealing with the condition, reduced anxiety and reduced social isolation. The University of Salford is responsible for evaluating whether GMMSIN achieves similar outcomes.  The study will collect data, surveys and interviews, from those patients of MCCN who participate in the Facebook community group between January 2025 to April 2026.  We are looking for newly diagnosed people with MS in Greater Manchester to join the community and take part in the study. We hope that this study will provide evidence for long term funding for the network and long term local, authoritative support and information for those living with MS.
