Greater Manchester Multiple Sclerosis Information Network (GMMSIN)
The project works with people living with MS (PlwMS) and healthcare professionals (HCPs) to develop, implement and evaluate an online network (hub), tailored to meet the local needs of people newly diagnosed with MS in Greater Manchester.
It primarily seeks to:
- Satisfy information and support needs amongst newly diagnosed PLwMS.
- Improve newly diagnosed PLwMS’ awareness and understanding of their health.
- Increase self-management amongst newly diagnosed PLwMS.
The project benefits PLwMS by:
- Ensuring that newly diagnosed PLwMS people receive trusted, timely, up-to-date and accurate information.
- Providing faster and more efficient access to their clinical team and local services through effective signposting.
- Providing additional support, reassurance.
The project benefits HCPs by:
- Supporting patients’ needs.
- Enabling effective and timely access to information and education.
- Developing service provision.
- Gaining insight into journey and perspective of patient.
The evaluation deploys a mixed methods approach incorporating focus group interviews, measurements derived from self-efficacy scales and netnography.
Outputs
An evaluation report will be delivered upon completion of the project in January 2026
