GMMSIN in detail

The Greater Manchester Multiple Sclerosis Information Network (GMMSIN) is a new local online community for MS education and support for newly-diagnosed individuals in Greater Manchester. This community gives you access to education and information from local MS specialist doctors and nurses and a place to connect with other newly-diagnosed people in the area.

Designed with local people living with MS and their healthcare professionals the network aims to help those newly diagnosed better manage their condition by:

  • ensuring that newly diagnosed people living with MS people receive trusted, timely, up-to-date and accurate information;
  • providing faster and more efficient access to their clinical team and local services;
  • providing additional support, reassurance and information from other people living with MS who have experienced or are experiencing their journey.

The main feature of GMMSIN is access to a private Facebook community exclusively for people living with MS in Greater Manchester or under the care of Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences. This private community provides information, education and support from the local MS healthcare professional team as well as support from other people living with MS.  GMMSIN also consists of a website which provides publicly available resources, specifically curated for people newly diagnosed with MS in Greater Manchester. GMMSIN aims to supplement rather than replace your care, providing you with access to information faster.  If you do not wish to take part in GMMSIN, your care will not be affected.  GMMSIN is part of a research study with the University of Salford, in collaboration with Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences and funded by The MS Society.

GMMSIN is not an alternative to your existing MS clinical care. For clinical advice and urgent queries about your MS condition, please contact your allocated local MS Nurse.
