Digital Health and Medical Imaging

Digital transformation of health remains a national and global priority to meet long-term health goals and recover from the pandemic. Current strategies focus on digitising healthcare services, integrating them using electronic health records and other digital tools, and enabling service transformation through these foundations.

Our work in this area includes intra-and transdisciplinary collaborations across health and social care professionals. It bridges science with practical implementation, focusing on creative and novel digital solutions and data to enhance population health and reduce system inequalities. This approach improves the lives of people with long-term conditions, brings applied research to underserved communities with health needs, and provides opportunities for different ways of working, inclusivity, and reducing health inequalities.

These efforts provide new and sustainable ways of building efficiency, capacity, and capability in healthcare systems.

We collaborate with colleagues to offer innovative digital education programmes to improve the digital capabilities of the healthcare workforce and optimise medical imaging technologies, enhancing both technical and physical aspects of imaging, as well as patient care and staff experience.

Funding in this area has been received from NIHR, NHSE, Kidney Care UK, and Innovation UK.
