Tension Release Therapy
Tension Release Therapy (TRT) is a new physiotherapy intervention which aimed at teaching patients who suffer with knee osteoarthritis to reduce muscle tension and change the way they react to pain. This treatment has been developed from research carried out at the University of Salford and across other Universities. With this new approach, patients learn to improve the organisation of postural muscle activity through body awareness training, rather than by using conventional strengthening exercises. Patients also learn to become more aware of pain responses and also to change the way they coordinate their muscles during daily tasks.
