Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Needs Assessments (GTAAs)

SHUSU is one of the countries leading providers of Gypsy, Traveller and Travelling Showpeople Accommodation Needs Assessments. We have been involved in the production of GTAAs and similar assessments of accommodation need which aim to quantify the shortfall of pitch and plot need in local authority areas.

Between 2005-2010 we produced one third of all GTAAs which helped inform Local Development Frameworks. Since 2010 we have worked with a wide range of local authorities and partners in their production of an evidence base.

Our team are highly experienced in the application of the range of research methodologies and techniques relevant to to GTAAs and in the methodological complexities and cultural sensitivities of accessing and interviewing Gypsies, Travellers and Travelling Showpeople. Our team includes a trained and highly experienced members of the Gypsy/Traveller community.

Since 2010 we have produced GTAAs covering the following local areas:

  • Maidstone
  • Sevenoaks
  • Tonbridge & Malling
  • Gravesham
  • Ashford
  • Swale
  • Medway
  • Hull
  • East Riding of Yorkshire
