The Barriers and Facilitators to Wellbeing in Women Aged 60 and Over: A Qualitative Study

This study aims to gain insights into the experiences of women aged 60 and over in the workplace in Greater Manchester and the Northwest, the impact of recent harmonisation of pensionable age between men and women, the cost-of-living crisis and highlight the barriers and facilitators to wellbeing at work. Preliminary findings suggest a need to focus on the needs of women across the life course with a particular focus on flexible working practices across the life course and the additional burden of caring responsibilities, self-perceptions of ageing and being a woman, as well as addressing unhelpful stereotypes surrounding older women in the workplace.
