Children’s Experiences of Crime in Britain Survey

This is the most comprehensive ever Britain-wide survey of children’s offending and victimisation, looking at both online and offline experiences.  The study will deepen our understanding of the extent and context of children’s involvement with offending and antisocial behaviour, in both the offline and online domains.  With data collected in 2022-23, it is the first national self-report survey of children’s involvement in crime for seven years – providing policymakers, practitioners and the public with a vital insight into antisocial behaviour in contemporary Britain, including cyber-bullying and sexual harassment.  The study will contribute data to the International Self-Report Delinquency Study (ISRD4), which will allow comparisons with more than 30 other countries around the world, as well as previous surveys in Britain.  The survey involves 3600 children aged 13-17 years old (in both urban and rural areas) from across England, Scotland and Wales.

The study findings will be reported from 2024 onwards, including academic articles and policy reports.
