People with COPD often experience breathlessness. This is due to the swelling and narrowing of the airways, making it harder to move air in and out. Breathlessness can also happen if the muscles around your lungs are not working as well as they should. When this happens, it can make it harder for air to move in and out of your lungs.
This study will look at how many people with COPD feel breathless because of one or both of the reasons described above. If you agree to take part, you will complete a questionnaire. It will ask you about your breathing, your COPD, general well-being, and how much you know about your COPD. After taking part in the study, you will be entered into a £50 prize draw. The winner will be selected once the final interview has been completed. If you do not want to be entered into the prize draw, please let the researcher know.
This study could be for you if you have COPD and do not have any other respiratory conditions. If you are interested in taking part, click this link to read the information sheet and complete the questionnaire. All information provided through the questionnaire is treated strictly confidential.
Please follow this link to the information sheet and questionnaire. If you would prefer to speak to the researcher and request a hard copy of the questionnaire instead of completing the questionnaire online, then please ring (enter number when have it) or email them at j.greenwood17@edu.salford.ac.uk explaining that you would like someone to ring you back about the COPD questionnaire.
This study will start recruitment in May 2026
