{"id":1595,"date":"2020-06-04T13:02:51","date_gmt":"2020-06-04T13:02:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/localhost\/network\/test\/civil-engineering\/masonry-arch\/"},"modified":"2020-06-16T11:35:46","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T10:35:46","slug":"masonry-arch","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/hub.salford.ac.uk\/sirc-engineering\/civil-engineering\/masonry-arch\/","title":{"rendered":"Masonry Arch"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Masonry Arch Structure research group at the School of Computing, Science and Engineering has a good reputation in expanding the knowledge of structural behaviour of masonry arches bridges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our research group has worked with academic and industrial partners including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>University of Sheffield<\/li><li>Network Rail<\/li><li>International Union of Railways (UIC)<\/li><li>Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning &amp; Transport (ADEPT)<\/li><li>Essex County Council (ECC)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Masonry Arch group\u2019s current interests are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Stability and assessment of integral and masonry arch bridges<\/li><li>Soil and masonry arch structure interaction<\/li><li>Understanding the behaviour of masonry arch bridges under dynamic loading through physical modelling<\/li><li>Numerical modelling of masonry arches under dynamic loading<\/li><li>Retrofitting of masonry arch bridges<\/li><li>Acoustic emission monitoring on masonry arch bridges<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our laboratory has extensive testing facilities to conduct physical modelling on masonry arch bridges. One of the key testing facilities is a unique masonry testing chamber which was built to test a backfilled masonry arch bridges under plain strain condition.
