The courses have a focus on the social determinants of health (the conditions in which people are born, grow, work and age), which cause unfair and avoidable differences in health status.<\/p>\n<p>You will engage with ethical dilemmas in public health, for example the balance between individual freedom and responsibility of government to provide protection for all.<\/p>\n<p>The causes are aligned to the core skills that have been identified by professional bodies such as the UK Faculty of Public Health Curriculum and the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (2013) and Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER).<\/p>\n<p>The School is a member of ASPHER.<\/p>\n<p>With the Public Health team we have two taught course:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.salford.ac.uk\/pgt-courses\/public-health\">MSc\/PgDip\/PgCert Public Health<\/a> &#8211; Next intake September 2024<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On this course, you&#8217;ll receive instruction in core public health skills including epidemiology, statistics and research methods. As well as giving you the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of a range of topics; evidence-based public health; Global public health, Epidemiology &amp; Statistics for public health, Health Economics and research. The focus of the curriculum is on the social determinants of health (which makes it unique among the other Greater Manchester universities).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.salford.ac.uk\/courses\/degree-apprenticeship\/public-health-practitioner-public-health-practitioner-degree-apprenticeship\">Public Health Practitioner (Public Health Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship)\u00a0<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The BSc (Hons) Public Health Practitioner degree apprenticeship has been developed through consultation with Public Health England and employers in a range of public health-related fields, to meet the requirements of the UK Public Health Register. Successful completion will enable you to register as a Public Health Practitioner.<\/p>\n<p>The degree apprenticeship provides a new route for developing and retaining the future public health workforce that is complementary to the academic route, ensuring that graduating apprentices are competent Public Health Practitioners able to meet the future needs of employers.<\/p>\n<p>The apprenticeship takes three years to complete, and during that time you will undertake a range of modules aligned to the Public Health Skills &amp; Knowledge Framework (2016).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Across all of our courses there is a multidisciplinary focus targeted at modern public health requirements in a changing environment.
