student sponsors; or from within the academic team related to UoS academic staff\u2019s own research areas.\u00a0 These applied projects are designed to answer key research questions, relevant to current public health issues, and inform public health practice as a result.\u00a0The external dissertations give training in presenting to, and writing for an external audience, rather than just an \u2018academic\u2019 one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Completed Applied projects:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>The Impact of Volunteering on the Health and Wellbeing of Volunteers<\/em> \u2013 Ibrahim Mamman (2019) conducted for Inspiring Communities Together<\/li>\n<li><em>The Barriers and Enablers Associated with the Implementation of Smokefree Guidance within Acute care NHS Trusts in the North West of England<\/em> \u2013 Katherine Fithon (2018) conducted for Public Health England North West<\/li>\n<li><em>The Impact of Social Prescribing: How an age friendly programme is used in the Salford area to promote health and wellbeing<\/em> \u2013 Georgia Rollings (2018) conducted for Ambition for Ageing<\/li>\n<li><em>Assessing the effects of the T.H.O.M.A.S voluntary work place programme in increasing a positive sense of wellbeing and personal identity in recovering drug users; considering the impact of deprivation<\/em> &#8211; Ashley Carrick (2015), conducted for Salford City Council<\/li>\n<li><em>Evaluation of Salford GP practice Bowel Cancer Screening incentive scheme using a mixed methods approach<\/em> \u00a0&#8211;
