Lorna Paterson

lornaLorna Paterson is interested in most things health related, having spent 10 years working in partnership with the NHS in a range of roles; including research and patient contact. She returned to academic employment in 2010 in a part-time lectureship in Psychology (University of Salford) and Public Health research position (University of Central Lancashire). During 2011, teaching became the greatest focus and in 2012 she became a Fellow of The Higher Education Academy. In April this year, Lorna was also invited to sit on the University of Salford’s undergraduate Ethics Committee, which she accepted; providing a valuable understanding of partnership working in order to conduct research ethically.

Lorna’s current research focus is pain, back pain and the psycho-social influences in lumbar spine surgical recovery. She has experience working within a range of clinical conditions, clinical guidance policies and is interested in developing research opportunities throughout the School of Health Sciences.

Outside work, Lorna enjoys making the most of dry days participating in a number of outdoor activities ranging from gardening to power kite flying.
