The Dementia Associates are a growing network of people with lived experience of dementia, including those living with the condition, caring for family members, experiencing memory concerns, and dedicated volunteers.
By working alongside students, staff, researchers, and community partners, our Associates help ensure that real-life experiences inform education, research, and service development. Their contributions bring authenticity, insight, and humanity to every project.
Through shared experiences and meaningful collaboration, we are helping to transform how dementia is understood, taught, and supported across the University of Salford and the wider community.
The difference your involvement makes
Help shape the future
As a Dementia Associate, you are part of a community that is changing the conversation around dementia. Together, we influence learning, inspire action, and ensure that people with lived experience have a voice in shaping education, research, and community initiatives.
Who can join
We welcome anyone affected by dementia or memory changes, including people living with dementia, those awaiting a diagnosis, care partners, family members, and volunteers who would like to support our work. Whether you want to share your experiences, connect with others, or make a difference, there is a place for you here.
A warm invitation
Everyone has something valuable to contribute. As a Dementia Associate, you’ll join a welcoming community that celebrates lived experience, encourages new ideas, and supports one another with kindness and respect.
