Teach in a Lab or a Practical Class?

If you teach in a laboratory, a practical setting, or use practical learning activities, you will find this workshop useful to support and develop your teaching practice with undergraduate students. It will also be advantageous as a refresher opportunity, for experienced demonstrators.

This participative workshop will help you to consider how your role in a practical class can compliment lecturing / large group learning. You will also find out how to help students get the most from the practical. Case studies will help you plan, teach and support learning in practical classes and problem solving sessions. Comprehensive resources are included.

Facilitator: Dr Helen Lawrence, Hutchinson Training & Development Ltd
Helen has a PhD in Sociolinguistic Variation, with publishing and lecturing experience. She is an experienced facilitator in training and development. She has developed researcher training programmes for postgraduates, postdoctoral researchers, university staff and professional teams. She is also a local and national UK GRAD School tutor. Helen has recently published on the PhD experience and transferable skills, with a particular interest in maximising professional effectiveness.
