Breakfast fibre consumption on cognitive and behavioural performance in preschool children
To give children the best start in life it is important that they receive adequate and appropriate nutrition during these important preschool years. During preschool years, the brain develops dramatically. We are able to use specific tests to measure the mental abilities of children from a young age. Children’s performance on these tests have been shown to predict their later academic success. We are beginning to understand a great deal about the importance of fibre for health and brain function in older children and adults. However very little research has evaluated the impact fibre on brain function in preschool children.
