This will consider the importance of the videogame industry in contributing to economic growth, job creation, physical and mental well-being, and social and cultural cohesion, by particularly focusing on, how a stronger and closer working relationship between more the traditional and emergent cultural sectors, could work better to create more inclusive, and socially responsible, cultural experiences. The universities of Salford (UK), Tampere (Finland), Vienna (Austria), Breda University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), and Wroclaw University of Economics and Business (Poland) will work in parentship with key videogame industry partners and associations to explore current and future trends in the European videogame ecosystem. Beyond this, we will work with certain cultural case studies partners to consider how game-related technologies are and could be used to increased access to heritage, the arts, and sport. Here the cultural partners of the London Symphony Orchestra, the Imperial War Museums, and the City Football Group have been carefully selected as three case studies that will be used to explore the current and potential value of a closer working relationship between the videogame and wider creative and cultural industries.

The Project Team

Garry Crawford (lead)

Gaynor Bagnall

Victoria Gosling

Maria Stukoff

Seamus Simpson

The main aim of the project is to explore the value of the videogame industry ecosystem within the wider context of the creative and cultural industries.
