In this talk Dr Tom Redshaw will share insights and stories from his research into the cryptocurrencies, designed to help you understand and avoid the wide range of criminality and other social harms associated with the technology. As well as drawing on his own research, Tom will be sharing insights from a group of international scholars he has brought together for a book currently in the works, ‘Crypto Crises’.
Financial growth and the ‘gram: women, personal finance and Instagram
Yuening Li from National University of Ireland, Maynooth explores the lengthy terms and conditions users often skip when signing up for digital banking apps. Drawing on her PhD research, Yuening Li discusses the findings from analysing eight popular banking apps in the UK and Ireland and the ambiguities in user information, consent and excessive use of personal data. Helping us consider how we navigate the increasingly complex technical language we encounter and what we might be agreeing to unintentionally.
