Dr Rachel A.Katz, a postdoctoral research fellow in Digital Health and Society, and member of the Digital Society Research Theme in the Centre for Research on Inclusive Society, shared her insights about dating app research the Shuffle Dating Podcast. During the interview, Rachel delved into her 10 years of experience research on dating apps, including highlighting findings from the Covid Sex Lives Project (conducted with Prof Ben Light and Dr Lisa Garwood-Cross, both also at Salford) about the ramifications of dating apps for public health, particularly among queer users. She also discussed her PhD research on Grindr tourism and gender differences around dating app experiences. Her work, which has been featured on international television and news media such as the BBC, Vox, The Sunday Times, and The Guardian, provides a comprehensive understanding of the social dynamics at play in the world of online dating.

Rachel’s interview not only shed light on the complexities of digital dating but also offered valuable advice for users looking to navigate these platforms more effectively. Her engaging discussion underscored the significance of Salford’s sociological research in improving the people’s everyday lives and intimacies through researching digital connections.
