The work encompasses rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases, long-term conditions, such as limb loss, diabetes and stroke, along with health states associated with ageing, such as frailty. The centre also has a strong focus on sport and exercise. The centre draws together disciplines, ranging from engineering and computational modelling through to health behaviour, social sciences and qualitative research. The centre plays a key role in training the research workforce of the future and houses the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in prosthetics and orthotics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This research centre is one of three within the School of Health and Society, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.salford.ac.uk\/applied-health-research\/\">Centre for Applied Health Research<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/hub.salford.ac.uk\/inclusive-society\/\">Centre for Research on Inclusive Society<\/a> to see more of the school&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Centre Director:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salford.ac.uk\/our-staff\/chris-littlewood\">Prof Chris Littlewood<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within the centre are seven areas of key strength.
