Development of Predictive Models for Diabetic Foot Ulcer Occurrence and Healing Efficacy in Low Resource Settings

The overall aim of this research is to identify the risk factors for diabetic foot ulcer occurrence and to investigate the contributing factors to ulcer healing efficacy. To achieve this, several studies have been conducted to investigate the role of biomechanical factors in predicting the risk of diabetic foot ulcers. A few risk models have been developed using easy-to-obtain routinely collected data in a foot clinic with implications to low resource settings. There are further studies underway to develop predictive models for ulcer healing and to investigate the role of biomechanical factors in ulcer healing efficacy.
