Innovative Footbed Concepts to Decrease the Risk of Tissue Trauma During Physical Activity
The overall goal is to investigate the effectiveness of footwear interventions such as innovative insole, and midsole concepts in reducing the risk of trauma to the foot.
As part of this, several studies are conducted, and few innovative solutions are found using additive manufacturing techniques. These could contribute to decreasing the complications such as excess underfoot shear and compressive loads, and reduced skin microcirculation and hyperthermia at the foot. While these innovative solutions have shown potentials in decreasing the burden of diabetic foot disease, further research is underway to fully investigate the effectiveness of these interventions in reducing the risk of tissue trauma.
