Review of SICK! Festival Mindscapes
Dr Clare Edge (Lecturer in Psychology) has recently been invited to write two reviews of the ‘SICK! Festival’ for The Psychologist magazine, the official monthly publication of the British Psychological Society. The festival “faces up to the complexities of mental and physical health” with an international arts programme exploring a range of issues. In Spring 2021 Manchester hosted ‘Mindscapes’ and it was this series of online and physical exhibitions that Clare was asked to review.
In Clare’s first review the focus was on an exhibit called ‘Manchester Mood Drawings’ that were displayed across the Manchester Metrolink network. Clare’s dissertation student, Chloe Davenport (BSc Psychology and Counselling), also contributed her thoughts to this piece. The review can be found here
Clare’s second review of Mindscapes had a focus on welfare and specifically looked at “While Waiting, Wait Here”, an online interactive art exhibition that is a collaboration between researchers in Manchester and Merel Smitt, an artist based in Rotterdam. The website for the exhibit can be found here and Clare’s review is available here.
