Race and Ethnicity
This theme brings together criminologists and sociologists, as well as, researchers, practitioners, policy makers and those involved in grassroots community work. We are a synergetic network who exchange ideas, offer support, and engage in cross-collaborative work in the subject area of ‘race’ and ethnicity. Our main concerns relate (but are not confined) to understanding and seeking to progress work on racism and formal discrimination, racialised processes, cultural collectives, identity and belonging, and, equality and diversity. The team has expertise in policing and racism, Islam in prison, intersectionality (particularly race/class/gender), racism and social work and racism and youth leisure centres.
