Researcher<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nicola Hickman is an Undergraduate student within the School of Health and Society at the University of Salford. Her previous experience of supporting primary school children with Special Educational Needs within mainstream education has provided her with the opportunity to gain understanding of the difficulties in cognitive functioning that children face daily. Her passion for wanting to raise awareness about cognitive issues in children has motivated her to become a mature student in higher education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During her time at Salford, Nicola has been a part of the University\u2019s Cognitive Development Lab, reviewing current literature and being actively involved in research that explores the relationships between children\u2019s cognitive brain development and digital media use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More recently, Nicola has been given the opportunity to broaden her knowledge of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and assist David Junior Gilbert with his Postgraduate research project that investigates Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and the Criminal Justice system. She wishes to use her degree to pursue a career in psychological research; focusing on cognitive disorders in children and helping to raise awareness and understanding of cognitive developmental disorders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
