The Landscape study: examining the current provision for children and young people\u2019s inpatient mental health care in England and Wales<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Landscape study aims to further develop our understanding of current clinical practice for young people, aged 12 to 18 in intensive and inpatient psychiatric care across England and Wales. The study is bringing together evidence on the needs of young people experiencing serious mental health problems, and evidence on the provision of services in meeting young peoples\u2019 needs and the challenges in addressing these needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is in collaboration with the National Association of Psychiatric Intensive Care (NAPICU)<\/a> with extensive stakeholder involvement<\/a>. Stakeholders in the research are healthcare professionals, health service commissioners,  adults and young people with lived experience, carers, professional organisation,  key charities and third sector organisations working in the field  of young people\u2019s mental health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project comprises three sequential phases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  1. A comprehensive policy review and scoping literature review of CAMHS intensive and inpatient psychiatric care to explore previous research evidence, and identify knowledge gaps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. A Delphi study to develop a bespoke national survey. The development of the survey is based on consensus from healthcare professionals, commissioners, policy makers, people with lived experience and carers. <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. A national survey to understand the current state of provision in intensive and inpatient psychiatric care for young people<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
