Important work is already being done in some local areas to explore what this means and respond to the needs of whole communities where new arrivals are making their home.&nbsp;&nbsp;The main purpose of this project, which was led by Migration Yorkshire in partnership with the Sustainable Housing &amp; Urban Studies Unit, was to bring together Roma communities and Roma support organisations to look at how best to tackle Roma exclusion in South Yorkshire.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 150 individuals from local services and Roma communities from Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield were consulted during the course of the project with aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" type=\"1\"><li>Understand needs, map existing services, service gaps and identify duplication and overlap.<\/li><li>Support, consult and work with Roma to determine the best approach for future work (including identifying priority needs, actions, scale and delivery location).<\/li><li>Co-produce and plan a potential delivery model, service interventions and partnership requirements for delivery.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lead Partner:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.migrationyorkshire.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Migration Yorkshire website\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Migration Yorkshire<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Principle Investigator and Co-investigator:<\/strong> Professor Philip Brown and Philip Martin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wider Project Funder: <\/strong><a title=\"Big Lottery Fund website\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biglotteryfund.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Big Lottery Fund<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Report:<\/strong> There are a number of  reports produced from this work, all are available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.migrationyorkshire.org.uk\/romareports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Migrant Roma are one of the newest communities in South Yorkshire.
