This event presented the final findings from the five-year ESRC funded Welfare Conditionality: Sanctions, support and behaviour change <\/em><\/strong>project. This project has created an international and interdisciplinary focal point for research on welfare conditionality, providing a new and wide-ranging evidence base on the impact and ethicality of welfare conditionality across a range of policy areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The voices of people who experience welfare conditionality in their everyday lives was central to the research. This event presented the findings from a three wave qualitative longitudinal panel study of 481 welfare service users across nine different groups: unemployed people claiming Jobseeker\u2019s Allowance; individuals and households claiming Universal Credit; lone parents; disabled people; social tenants; homeless people; people subject to antisocial behaviour orders or family intervention; migrants; and offenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of this event was to provide a unique opportunity to discuss the research findings, and how they can feed into the work and welfare agenda across Greater Manchester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event included a research presentation from Professor Peter Dwyer (University of York), Dr Lisa Scullion and Dr Katy Jones (University of Salford)<\/strong>, followed by a panel response that included Matthew Ainsworth, Assistant Director \u2013 Employment (Policy, Strategy & Delivery), Greater Manchester Combined Authority <\/strong>and Catherine Connors, Skills and Work Board Manager, Salford City Council<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
