The Applied Cognition group in the Directorate of Psychology and Sport is part of an international, multi-lab, replication consortium, EEGManyLabs<\/a>.  This project aims to assess the replicability of important and influential EEG experiments testing psychological phenomena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Samantha Gregory is leading the replication of an EEG study which investigated EEG dynamics during working memory<\/a>. This is being conducted with Dr Silvia Kober\u2019s lab in the Institute of Psychology, University of Graz, Austria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other labs will also be contributing to data collection. Other members of the team will also be contributing to this project and another replication study investigating automatic attention to emotional stimuli<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to constraints related to time and money, cognitive neuroscience research often contains small samples. As data analysis is often highly complex, combined with these small samples, there is the potential for false positives in the results. The #EEGManylabs project is therefore working to change this through replicating studies by pooling resources across laboratories, revisiting key studies with increased statistical power. This is a therefore a highly important and influential piece of work which has been awarded the \u201cCredibility in Neuroscience Team Award\u201d by The British Neuroscience Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
