Our Impact
Our Research is largely applied in nature and often uses technology and digital solutions to solve real world problems and make positive changes within society. In the recent Research Excellence Framework (REF) assessment exercise, which took place in 2021, our staff were returned to Unit of Assessment (UoA) 3 (Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy) and Unit of Assessment (UoA) 34 (Communication, Cultural and Media Studies, Library and Information Management) where our impact case studies were graded as either outstanding or very considerable in terms of impact reach and significance, using social media to improve self-management and digital imaging research to improve cancer diagnosis, whilst our work in global health has led to systems changes in LMICs for cervical screening and antimicrobial resistance.
