An App to Support Patients with Multiple Sclerosis
Digital enabled care can support the creation of sustainable, quality services for patients with long term conditions that can:
- Be delivered remotely and in a manner better suited to our service users.
- Maximise the capacity and impact of scarce “face to face” clinical time.
As the first phase of an ongoing programme of work between the Northern Care Alliance and University of Salford we co-created, with people living with multiple sclerosis (PLwMS),a digital platform which makes use of symptom and significant event tracking, contextualised condition specific information from a trusted third sector partner (MS Trust), questionnaires (including patient reported experience measures (PREM), patient reported outcomes measures (PROM), and protocolled medical assessments) in order to build a digital profile of the patient, over time, and act as the foundation for additional digital capabilities, such as wearable device integration.
The evaluation of the project provided lessons around co-creation of apps of this nature and how people living with MS wanted to use apps in this context.
