Its members have participated in the National Centre of Languages Steering Group to review the National Standards in Translation; obtained external research funding from the AHRC; and possess specialized professional experience in environments ranging from the Jordan News Agency to European Works Councils. The Research Group members have been invited to give presentations at a range of institutions including the Universit\u00e9 Rennes 2, The University of Stirling, and the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, London. Members of the group specialize in \u2013 and have published extensively in \u2013 interdisciplinary, real-world research areas focusing on language and contemporary society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research themes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Arabic language, translation, interpreting; Arabic-English legal translation; interpreting pedagogy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>French language, translation, and interpreting studies; North American French; public service interpreting, new technologies in interpreter-mediated court hearings; sociological paradigms in interpreting studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>German language and conference interpreting; non-verbal communication in conference interpreting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Italian language, translation, media, culture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spanish language and translation; translation pedagogy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lexicography; semantic web terminology.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Projects<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/italianpoliticalcinema.wordpress.com\/\">A New Italian Political Cinema&nbsp; (AHRC-funded)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">PhD opportunities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Research Group welcomes proposals for collaborative research projects and initiatives from professional bodies and academic institutions.
