{"id":3324,"date":"2026-02-27T19:34:26","date_gmt":"2026-02-27T19:34:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hub.salford.ac.uk\/amc-english-literature-language-and-creative-practice\/?p=3324"},"modified":"2026-05-15T10:30:39","modified_gmt":"2026-05-15T09:30:39","slug":"new-publication-for-xsara-helmi-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hub.salford.ac.uk\/amc-english-literature-language-and-creative-practice\/2026\/02\/27\/new-publication-for-xsara-helmi-2\/","title":{"rendered":"New publication for Xsara Helmi"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>We are very happy to share that Xsara Helmi<strong>,<\/strong>&nbsp;PhD Researcher with LAURA (The Leverhulme Trust Aural Diversity Research Doctoral Hub) funded by the Leverhulme Trust, has a new article in the&nbsp;<em>Journal of Creative Research Methods<\/em>&nbsp;(Vol. 2, Issue 1), published by Bristol University Press \/ Policy Press.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Titled<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>&#8216;<em>HOSPITAL NOISES: Sonic Autobiography and the Embodied Experience of Autistic Auditory Perception \u2013 A Transdisciplinary Arts-Practice Inquiry,<\/em>&#8216; the article examines how hospital soundscapes are experienced through autistic sensory perception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using a phenomenological, transdisciplinary arts-based framework, the study explores autistic auditory experience in hospital environments through field recordings, autoethnographic writing, and phenomenological piano improvisation. Reinterpreting<em>&nbsp;sonic autobiography&nbsp;<\/em>as autistic self-representation, the article introduces new concepts: Autistic Sonic Texture Sensitivity (ASTS), phonotactilia, and Tonotextural Sensory Modulation (TSM),&nbsp;advancing sensory-led, arts-based approaches within aural diversity, autism studies, music phenomenology, and the health humanities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The paper has received recognition through its inclusion in the publisher\u2019s curated Editors\u2019 Choice selection.
