We are delighted to report that on Wednesday 11 June we held our annual research event at the Friends Meeting House in central Manchester. We had eight presenters throughout the day – in panels of two – with a 50:50 balance between our postgraduate researchers and staff researchers, and a keen and engaged audience. As the programme below reveals, we accommodated an incredibly wide-range of topics, covering everything from how bats listen to improving the patient information leaflets for malaria treatments. Nevertheless a strong set of themes and resonances emerged – taking in the relationship between embodiment and textuality; language and multimodality; the relationship between the personal and the social and the dynamic between place and movement. We thank all our wonderful presenters and those who came to support them with keen interest and inquisitive questions! We look forward to next year’s gathering already!
