Jack Wilson’s latest article ‘The foundational role of sound quality for understanding demonstratives’ is about to be published in Intercultural Pragmatics.
Looking at the theme of demonstratives (words like ‘this’ and ‘that’) in language, Jack utilises a unique interdisciplinary approach, drawing not only on linguistics, but also philosophy and psychoacoustics. Jack hopes to help change the way we think about how children learn language in the first year of life, and will be continuing to explore this line of enquiry with the Acoustics research group at the University of Salford.
