The distinguished improvising pianist Roger Dean will be performing a piano solo in response to a specially commissioned film of a kinepoetic (dance & poetry) solo by Scott Thurston. The film, directed and photographed by Maria Andrews, was facilitated by technician Charlie Cragg at the New Adelphi Studio on the University of Salford campus in July 2024.

Dean’s solo will take place at the Asia-Pacific Improvisers Symposium in Singapore on Saturday 22 February. See details of the programme here.

Following this event, the Australian premiere is planned for 3 May in Melbourne (details TBC) with another performance in Sydney – involving Dean’s austraLYSIS quartet – expected later in the year.
