Working Towards Evaluation
The diversity of the Pocket Parks meant that there were different outcomes and expectations. For some, the reduction in antisocial behaviour was significant, for others, it was to increase footfall to local business or the library. A common theme amongst the Pocket Parks was the need to capture the use of the park as an outcome. Equally, ensuring that the Park is fit for purpose and used as originally designed and intended was important. These are outcomes which can be captured both quantitatively and qualitatively through research which the team has since built into a research bid. The need to ensure that Pocket Parks are sustainable and that they have the potential to meet a Green Community Flag award was also important as these criteria were used in the assessment of funding applications.
