About Us

The Ecosystems and Environment Research Centre is a group of over 30 academics and 40 doctoral students who together addresses some of the major environmental challenges of the 21st Century: biodiversity resource management, climate and environmental change and spread of infectious diseases.

We have a collegiate culture of multidisciplinary collaboration, specifically the bringing together of biologists, geographers and environmental scientists to facilitate novel research opportunities. Our research contributes to the scientific understanding of the biological, physical and social dimensions of environmental change and the resultant impacts on humans and animals.

We employ a wide variety of approaches, including behavioural ecology, epidemiology, ethnography, forensic ecology, genomics, geographic information systems, molecular ecology, radioecology, remote sensing, sociology, and spatial analysis, and use cutting edge innovative technologies in pursuing our research goals.
